Sounded Good Golf
DFW Rankings

How we rank every course in DFW.

Transparency matters. Here's exactly how every public course and private club in Dallas–Fort Worth gets its final score.

The Final Score

Every course gets a final score from 0 to 100, computed as a weighted combination of three inputs:

  • Editorial Score (50%) — Our team's rating across 10+ criteria after visiting, playing, and eating at the course.
  • Community Score (30%) — Verified user reviews, aggregated. Minimum 5 reviews required.
  • Data Score (20%) — Objective metrics: current pricing, reported pace of play, conditions signals.

If a course has fewer than 5 community reviews, the final score is Editorial (70%) + Data (30%).

Why We're Doing This

Golf course rankings in DFW have historically lived in once-a-year magazine features that are hard to search, never updated, and often more PR-adjacent than honest. We wanted something different: a living, searchable, criteria-based ranking of every course and club in the Metroplex — editorial voice intact, community voices welcomed, and data-backed throughout.

Sounded Good Golf is run by local golfers who love this game, this city, and the sometimes-frustrating but always-rewarding obsession of finding the right tee time.
