Course History
The course at Waxahachie Country Club originated with the founding of the Waxahachie Duck Club in 1923, with its 18-hole layout completed the following year. Sources variously date the opening to 1924 or 1925, but no architect is credited in available records. The club operated as a semi-private facility open year-round, playing to par 70 at approximately 6,156 yards from the back tees, known for its blind doglegs and hilly terrain. It has hosted local professionals over the decades, including during the 1960s and 1970s. Waxahachie native Byron Nelson, a PGA legend with 52 Tour wins and World Golf Hall of Fame inductee, grew up in the area but learned the game as a caddie in Fort Worth rather than at this course. Recent ownership transitioned to Beth Boyer, who announced plans in 2026 for enhancements including a lit putting green and driving range improvements, though no major historical renovations are documented. The club has no record of hosting notable professional tournaments.
