Course History
Twin Wells Golf Club in Irving, Texas, opened in 1988 as a municipal course designed by Ault, Clark & Associates, the firm founded by Ed Ault and later led by his son Brian Ault and partner Tom Clark, known for numerous designs primarily along the East Coast including Wyncote Golf Club. Built on landfill adjacent to the Trinity River and challenged by highways, power lines, and flat terrain, it served the public for three decades. The course underwent significant renovations announced around 2017, including a new irrigation system, and was comprehensively redesigned in 2019 by John Colligan of Colligan Golf Design, who rerouted eight holes, reshaped TifEagle greens to USGA specs, recontoured fairways and tees, added bunkers, and planted native grasses for a links-style appearance while navigating site constraints. Renamed Irving Golf Club upon reopening that year, it remains a city-owned public facility offering views of the Dallas skyline. No major professional tournaments or notable historical events beyond local outings are documented.
