The Trophy Club Country Club in Trophy Club, Texas, opened in 1975 with an initial 18-hole course known as the Hogan Course, the only golf course designed by legendary PGA Tour player Ben Hogan. Hogan, a five-time major champion who won 64 PGA Tour events, collaborated with architect Joe Lee, who handled the routing while Hogan detailed the playing areas and greens during 1972-1974. Hogan withdrew support in 1977 amid financing disputes over the planned clubhouse to display his trophies, from which the club's name derives. The course emphasizes precision, contoured fairways, and fairness with no blind shots.
Ownership changed hands multiple times: Houston developers Johnson-Loggins in 1973 sold to Gibraltar Savings and Loan in 1975, then to Independent American Savings and Loan in 1983, which added nine holes for 27 total. In 1992, ClubCorp acquired the club and added another nine to create two full 18-hole layouts. The second course, designed by Arthur Hills, was named the Whitworth Course in 2008 after long-time resident and LPGA legend Kathy Whitworth, who won a record 88 tournaments and whose trophies are displayed at the club. The Whitworth underwent a $1 million renovation in 2020, upgrading greens to Tifeagle bermudagrass, tee boxes to TifTuf, and irrigation. The club hosted the LPGA's Civitan Open, where Whitworth finished second.

The newer sister course — modern bunkering, generous fairways, and a friendlier ride for higher handicaps.
