Course History
Timarron Country Club opened in September 1994 as the centerpiece of a 1,100-acre planned residential community developed by Mobil Land Development Corporation in Southlake and Colleyville, Texas. Golf legend Byron Nelson, nicknamed Lord Byron for his graceful swing, collaborated with the architecture firm Finger Dye Spann, Inc. to design the 18-hole, par-72 championship course measuring 7,012 yards. Nelson, a World Golf Hall of Fame inductee with 54 PGA Tour victories including two Masters, two PGA Championships, and one U.S. Open, incorporated rolling topography, wooded terrain, and Big Bear Creek into the layout, transforming North Texas flatland with berms evoking seaside links. Shortly after opening, Golf Digest ranked it the seventh-best new course in America. The club received the 1999 Environmental Steward Award for North Texas from the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America. In 1997, the club was sold to ClubCorp, now part of Invited Clubs, while remaining tied to the Timarron Owners Association. No major course renovations are documented, though clubhouse updates occurred around 2021. The course hosts member leagues and tournaments but no professional events. It continues to earn accolades, such as Avid Golfer's Best Golf Club in the First Class category.
