Course History
The Tribute Golf Links in The Colony, Texas, was designed by golf course architect Tripp Davis, a former NCAA All-American at the University of Oklahoma on the 1989 national championship team and a member of the American Society of Golf Course Architects. Holding a master's in landscape architecture from the same university, Davis founded Tripp Davis and Associates in 1994, emphasizing minimalist designs that preserve natural terrain. In the DFW area, he also crafted Northwood Club in Dallas and co-designed the adjacent Old American Golf Club with PGA Tour star Justin Leonard, evoking Golden Age American architecture. The Tribute opened in 2000 as a public course replicating iconic Scottish links holes from St. Andrews, Carnoustie, Royal Troon, and others, set on a Lake Lewisville peninsula. Davis led a significant 2017 renovation, rebuilding greens with Bermuda grass for firmer play akin to Scotland, plus improved drainage, tee boxes, collars, and clubhouse enhancements including new conference spaces.
Part of the Golf Clubs at The Tribute facility developed by Matthews Southwest, the course shares the site with Old American but maintains its distinct Scottish homage. No prior names or ownership shifts are recorded. The complex supports local events like weddings, while Old American has hosted LPGA tournaments such as The Ascendant LPGA and U.S. Open qualifiers.
