Course History
Texas Star Golf Course in Euless, Texas, was designed by Keith Foster, a noted architect who began his career in course construction before creating acclaimed public courses such as The Quarry in St. Louis, SunRidge Canyon in Arizona, Coral Canyon in Utah, Haymaker in Colorado, and Harvester in Iowa during the late 1990s. In the DFW area, he renovated Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth. For Texas Star, Foster drew inspiration from the site's natural features, including Hurricane Creek and mature oaks, to craft a strategic par-71 layout with elevation changes evoking the Texas Hill Country. The course opened on May 22, 1997, as the centerpiece of the city-owned 321-acre Texas Star Sports Centre, encompassing baseball fields, soccer pitches, batting cages, and partnerships with local sports facilities. The property borders Mosier Valley, the state's first Black settlement, and neighbors the site of Bird's Fort, where a treaty with nine Indian tribes facilitated North Texas settlement. Local history permeates the course through hole names: Reveille (No. 1), Johnson Crossing (par-5 tenth), Bugle Ridge, Battle Cry, Lock and Load, Presidio, and Deguello (eighteenth, Santa Anna's Alamo order of no mercy). No prior names or ownership changes are recorded. In 2014, the City of Euless invested $372,000 in major upgrades, resurfacing greens with Mini-Verde Bermuda, refurbishing 80 bunkers with quartz sand, extending tees, and enhancing the sixteenth pond; total improvements surpassed $500,000. The municipal venue hosts the Collegiate Players Tour annually and charity outings like the Recovery Resource Council Golf Classic, earning acclaim as a top Texas muni with country-club conditions.
