Course History
Texas 9, a public 9-hole executive course in Fort Worth, Texas, opened in 1999 as the Jim McLean Golf Center, designed by Steven D. Plumber, ASGCA. Plumber has created several public courses in Texas and Alabama, including the adjacent Waterchase Golf Club in Fort Worth, Hidden Creek in Burleson, and one in Greenville, along with Chesley Oaks and Tannehill National in Alabama. The course was envisioned as a public facility to provide greater community access to golf in the DFW area and has operated for over two decades as a venue for PGA training and annual tournaments.
Formerly known as the Jim McLean Training Facility, it came under new management in 2023 focused on adding amenities while preserving its strengths. Nestled alongside Village Creek watershed next to the full 18-hole Waterchase Golf Club, it features eight par-3s and one par-4, emphasizing short-game practice. No major renovations or high-profile professional tournaments are documented.
