Course History
Southern Oaks Golf & Tennis Club in Burleson, Texas, opened in 1999 as a public course co-designed by Fort Worth native Mark Brooks, the 1996 PGA Championship winner who began a second career in course design during the 1990s, partnering in firms like Knott-Linn-Brooks House, and architect Britt Logan. Brooks drew from his 16 years of PGA Tour experience to create a layout inspired by early American and Scottish links courses, winding through mature oaks and pecans alongside Village Creek on 300 acres, with a signature Redan-style hole at the 17th. The course quickly gained local acclaim, ranking No. 5 among DFW public courses in AvidGolfer magazine's 2016 Best of list.
