Course History

The River's Edge Par 3 course at Rockwood Park in Fort Worth, Texas, is a six-hole short course designed by Colligan Golf Design, the firm of John Colligan, ASGCA, an Arlington-based architect with over 35 years of experience in golf course design and a member of the American Society of Golf Course Architects. His associate Trey Kemp contributed to the project. Colligan Golf Design is known for DFW-area renovations including the main Rockwood Park Golf Course (originally by John Bredemus in 1938, renovated 2015-2017) and Stevens Park Golf Course in Dallas, as well as Texas Rangers Golf Club in Arlington on the site of the former Ditto Golf Course. The River's Edge short course was part of a master plan developed around 2013 for Rockwood Park, funded jointly by the City of Fort Worth and Wadsworth Golf Charities. It features six greens playable as six par-3s or a three-hole loop with two par-4s and one par-3, located along the Trinity River adjacent to the main course's 11th fairway and 17th tee. The course serves as a teaching facility for The First Tee of Fort Worth, based at Rockwood with the Ben Hogan Learning Center, providing an accessible entry for youth and beginners. No specific opening date or major renovations are publicly documented for the course, and it has no record of hosting notable tournaments.
