Course History
The Old Brickyard Golf Course in Ferris, Texas, opened in 2000. Designed by John Ponko, a golf course architect who graduated from the University of Tampa in 1980 and joined his father's firm before working on approximately 100 courses across 21 states and 18 countries, the layout was carved from the site of the former Ferris Brick Co. and its three quarries. This public course features dramatic elevation changes, blind shots, water hazards, and TifEagle greens, playing to 6,486 yards from the tips with a par of 71. Ponko's other designs include courses in Pennsylvania and the Dominican Republic, though specific DFW-area work beyond Old Brickyard is not prominently documented. No major renovations, previous names, ownership changes, or hosted tournaments are publicly detailed.
