Course History
Oakmont Country Club in Corinth, Texas, spans 170 acres of rolling terrain north of Lake Lewisville and opened its 18-hole championship golf course in 1986. The layout was designed by Roger Packard, born in Chicago in 1947 and son of golf architect Edward Lawrence Packard, who created numerous courses during the 1980s building boom including Sweetwater Country Club in Sugar Land, Texas; Eagle Ridge Resort in Galena, Illinois; and Chaska in Appleton, Wisconsin. Renowned PGA Seniors Champion and 1967 PGA Championship winner Don January, a North Texas State alumnus with 10 PGA Tour victories and 22 Champions Tour titles, served as design consultant to Packard. The course measures 6,908 yards from the tips with a par of 72, rating of 72.7, and slope of 123.
No previous names or changes in identity are recorded, and the club has not publicly documented major renovations. It functions as a private facility with additional amenities including tennis, fitness, dining, and swimming, serving as a community social hub without hosting notable professional tournaments—primarily local charity outings such as those by Children's Voice of North Texas.
