Reopened late 2025 after a phenomenal Andy Staples renovation. No. 18 is now one of the best finishers in Tarrant County.

Our Review

Reopened late 2025 after a complete course renovation. Architect Andy Staples did a phenomenal job — tree management opened sightlines and will help long-term turf management. Deceptive bunkering adds challenge, and the white sand really makes the course pop. Coastal native areas frame holes and offer a subtle buffer between the course and nearby homes. No. 18 is now one of the best finishing holes in Tarrant County with views of the small, meandering creek through the fairway. Staples knocked it out of the park.

Course History

Mira Vista Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas, opened on August 22, 1987, marking the first new country club in the city in 15 years. The 18-hole layout was designed by Tom Weiskopf, a major champion who won the 1973 Open and created courses like TPC Scottsdale with Coore & Crenshaw, and Jay Morrish, whose portfolio includes over 200 designs such as The Rawls Course at Texas Tech and other DFW-area work. Developer Jerry L. Thomas acquired 625 acres of ranch land in 1985 and broke ground in 1987 to build an exclusive gated community around the par-71 course, which draws its name from the Spanish phrase for "See the View," reflecting its scenic terrain. Starting with 84 charter members, the club expanded to over 650 memberships and became member-owned in 2008. Project manager Burt Baine, who also became the first golf professional, and Lindy Miller shaped its early traditions.

The course converted its greens from Bentgrass to TifEagle Bermuda at an unspecified date and received acclaim when Golf Digest named hole No. 11 among the best in the country. It hosted the USGA's U.S. Girls' Junior Championship, where Granada defeated Jane Park at the 20th hole in the final. In October 2024, Andy Staples led a comprehensive renovation by Staples Golf Design, rebuilding all greens, bunkers, tees, fairways, and the irrigation system to enhance playability while retaining Weiskopf and Morrish's original risk/reward elements; the upgraded course reopened in October 2025.
