Course History
The course opened as the Mesquite Municipal Golf Course on November 28, 1964, with its first nine holes designed by Leon Howard, a Texas A&M alumnus with a master's degree in soil physics who designed dozens of courses across the U.S., with a focus on Texas including other DFW-area municipal tracks like Sherrill Park Golf Course in Richardson. Constructed by James Green, the second nine followed in March 1967, creating an 18-hole layout on 154 acres in the Duck Creek floodplain. Owned and operated by the City of Mesquite as a public facility, it spent several years under private management in the 2000s before the city reclaimed operations in 2010.
