Course History
Meadowbrook Golf Course opened in 1924 as Meadowbrook Country Club, designed by John Bredemus, known as the father of Texas golf. A Princeton-educated civil engineer and former AAU all-around champion, Bredemus moved to Texas in 1919, becoming the state's first resident golf course architect. He designed numerous courses across Texas and Mexico, including Colonial Country Club and Rockwood Park Golf Course in Fort Worth, as well as Memorial Park in Houston. The City of Fort Worth purchased the course in 1938, making it one of its three municipal facilities managed by Fort Worth Golf. It received a redesign by William F. Mitchel in 1947 and major renovations by Ralph Plummer in 1963, which added seven lakes and a new irrigation system.</xai:function_call name="parameter"> <parameter name="sources">[Fort Worth Golf](https://www.fortworthgolf.org/golf/meadowbrook), [Fort Worth Golf News](https://www.fortworthgolf.org/meadowbrook-news), [FTWtoday](https://ftwtoday.6amcity.com/culture/meadowbrook-golf-course-renovations-fort-worth-tx), [Golf Course Architecture](https://www.golfcoursearchitecture.net/content/colligan-and-kemp-to-oversee-meadowbrook-redesign), [San Angelo CC](https://www.sanangelocountryclub.net/about/course-architect), [Star-Telegram](https://www.star-telegram.com/news/local/fort-worth/article312455698.html)
