One of the few Byron Nelson–designed courses in Texas — underrated, quirky, thoroughly enjoyable.

Course History
Las Colinas Country Club opened in 1963 on the former El Ranchito de Las Colinas ranch in Irving, Texas, as the centerpiece of developer Ben Carpenter's planned community. Texas Golf Hall of Famer Joe Finger, a former Rice University golfer and chemical engineer turned architect who designed 49 courses including several Air Force bases and collaborations with Byron Nelson on projects like the Masters' eighth green, created the layout to integrate with the rolling terrain and mature oaks, pecans, and mesquites. Finger, who held Westwood Country Club's championship for 13 years and worked on DFW-area courses such as Stonebriar Country Club in Frisco and Hackberry Creek Country Club in Irving, emphasized balanced challenges for all skill levels. The club has no recorded previous names.
The course underwent a multimillion-dollar renovation in 2020 led by Jim Lipe, formerly of Nicklaus Design, which added fairway bunkers, converted tees and fairways to Trinity Zoysia, and greens to G12 Bermuda. This project also introduced a new 10-acre practice facility designed by Hall of Famer Lanny Wadkins. As part of Invited Clubs (formerly ClubCorp), the club has hosted the Invited Celebrity Classic, a PGA Tour Champions event featuring professionals, celebrities, and qualifiers since 2022. PGA Tour winner Corey Pavin counts himself among its members.
