Course History
Lake Park Golf Course's championship layout in Lewisville, Texas, was designed by Jeff Brauer, a prolific Texas-based architect who has created over 50 courses and remodeled more than 80 others. A past president of the American Society of Golf Course Architects, Brauer is known for DFW-area designs including Cowboys Golf Club in Grapevine and Tangle Ridge Golf Club in Grand Prairie, as well as The Wilderness in Lake Jackson. The course opened in 1996 as a public facility along the shores of Lake Lewisville, replacing an earlier iteration on the site originally known as Oak Ridge Park or Lewisville Golf Course. That predecessor, Lewisville's first golf course, was developed in the late 1950s and opened in the 1960s by a local family of golf course builders who planted grass by hand on what was formerly a goat farm. The family managed it until 1989, when it was sold to professional management ahead of the new championship construction. The course earned Golf Digest recognition as one of the “Best Places to Play” for 2008-2009 and is today operated by Arcis Golf as part of their portfolio of public and private facilities. No major renovations or notable professional tournaments are publicly documented.
