Course History

Hawks Creek Golf Club originated as the Carswell Air Force Base Golf Course, with its distinctive clubhouse originally built as a private residence in 1936. The historic course underwent a major renovation starting in 2000, led by John Colligan of Colligan Golf Design in Arlington, Texas. Colligan, who holds degrees in architecture and landscape architecture from the University of Texas at Arlington, specializes in restoring courses by architects like A.W. Tillinghast and Alister MacKenzie. His other notable DFW-area work includes Shady Oaks Country Club, River Crest Country Club, and Mansfield National Golf Club. The course reopened in 2002 as Hawks Creek Golf Club, owned and operated as a public facility by the City of Westworth Village.

The city has invested in ongoing improvements, including a 2014 makeover with a new driving range and a recent full bunker renovation featuring reshaped bunkers and White Premier Play Sand. Upon opening, it was named Texas's best new course by Avid Golfer Magazine. While it hosts local events like charity tournaments and amateur competitions such as the Golfweek Amateur Tour and Amateur Players Tour, no major professional tournaments are documented. The municipal course offers affordable play and attracts strong regional golfers from the Metroplex.
