Course History
Gentle Creek Country Club opened in August 2002 as the centerpiece of the upscale Gentle Creek Estates residential community in Prosper, Texas. The parkland-style course, laid out across 235 acres of gently rolling terrain and wooded countryside, was designed by D.A. Weibring of Weibring-Wolfard Golf Design. Weibring, a Quincy, Illinois native and Illinois State University alumnus, competed on the PGA Tour from 1977 to 2003 and later won on the Champions Tour. He has designed or renovated numerous courses, particularly in the DFW area, including Grapevine Golf Course, Sherrill Park Golf Course in Richardson, Cedar Crest and Tenison Highlands in Dallas, TPC Las Colinas in Irving, Mira Vista Country Club in Fort Worth, and the Courses at Watters Creek in Plano. The club was founded by Dallas developer and hotelier Harvey K. Huie Jr., with his daughter Molly Ann Huie Mayes managing operations after his death in 2007. Since opening, the course has hosted multiple PGA Tour and USGA qualifiers. Arcis Golf acquired the club in September 2021 and completed a multi-million-dollar renovation of the clubhouse, amenities, and programming in 2023, while leaving the golf course intact.
