McKinney's stepping-up club — great clubhouse, very good food, and a youth academy program.

Course History
The course at Eldorado Country Club in McKinney, Texas, was designed by Gary Roger Baird and opened in 1981. Baird, who earned a BLA from California State Polytechnic University-Pomona in 1968, worked as a senior architect for Robert Trent Jones in the 1960s and early 1970s before founding Global Golf Design. His portfolio includes courses across the United States, Asia, Latin America, and Europe, with notable examples like Barona Creek Golf Club in California, ranked among top resort courses by Golfweek. No other DFW-area designs by Baird were identified. The layout features rolling hills, giant oaks, a creek, and irrigation lake, with sloped greens protected by bunkers.
In November 1996, the clubhouse burned to the ground and was rebuilt in 1998. The club is currently managed by Encore Leisure Group and IMG Prestige. A greens renovation project began in summer 2025, planned for completion by early fall, alongside new amenities like a pool bar and pickleball courts. No previous names, ownership changes, or hosted professional tournaments were documented in available sources.
