Course History
Country View Golf Club in Lancaster, Texas, opened in 1989. The course was designed by Florida-based architect Ron Garl, who holds a degree in turfgrass science from the University of Florida. Garl worked on Robert Trent Jones's construction crew and spent nearly five years with designer Joe Lee before establishing his own practice. He has created over 250 courses worldwide, with a focus on Florida designs such as Golden Ocala—host of an LPGA event and featuring the world's first tribute holes replicating famous layouts—and others including University Park in Sarasota and Victoria Hills in Deland. His work extends to Texas, including this public course and a private layout in Abilene. The club is owned by the City of Lancaster and managed by KemperSports. It has earned accolades from Avid Golfer magazine as the best value priced course, most improved in the DFW area, best overall value under $40, and best greens in DFW. Golf Advisor ranked it #8 among the top 25 most improved U.S. courses in 2019. No previous names, major renovations, or notable professional tournaments are documented in available sources.
